The Inukshuk, which means "the form of a man", has been to the Inuit a marker and a guide, and many Inuksuit dot the barren Arctic landscape. The Inuksuit make the Inuit's journeys safer, and often indicate where hunting or fishing is good, or where shelter can be found.
To the rest of Canada, the Inukshuk has become a symbol of trust, safety, and reassurance, and its outstretched arms a sign of welcome.

Indiana Limestone
I carved this Inukshuk from a single piece of Indiana Limestone in the summer of 2007 during a sculpture course taught by sculptor Doug Stephens, at the Haliburton School of the Arts. It was created as a 40th Birthday gift to my son Tony Jr.
